Membership in Prairie Scale Model Railroaders shall be open to any person.

Membership Types

• Regular Members
1. An individual shall be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
2. Application for membership must be presented in accordance with the standard application process.
• Associate Members
1. Applicant shall be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
2. Any Associate Member may become a Regular Member by complying with the standard application process. The six-month waiting period shall not apply.
3. Application for membership must be presented in accordance with the standard application process.
• Sponsored Junior Member
1. Applicant shall be between fifteen (15) and seventeen (17) years of age and sponsored by a Regular Member.
2. The Regular Member must remain in good standing in order for the Sponsored Junior Member to remain in good standing.
3. A Regular Member may sponsor more than one (1) Sponsored Junior Member under this section.
4. Application for this membership must be presented in accordance with the standard application process except that the initiation fee of $250.00 shall be waived.
5. Any Sponsored Junior Member will automatically become a Regular Member upon obtaining eighteen (18) years of age. The six-month waiting period shall not apply.
6. When the Sponsored Junior Member obtains eighteen (18) years of age and is granted Regular Membership, they must pay the $250.00 initiation fee.
• Honorary Members
• Honorary Member status will be granted to an individual under special circumstances as determined by the Organization's Executive Board.

Application Process

• Application for membership must be submitted on the Organization's form to the Membership Committee and include the payment of one month's dues.
• Application received by the Membership Committee will be presented to the members at the first business meeting following receipt thereof.
• The Applicant must pay monthly membership dues during the six (6) month waiting period. The Applicant will pay monthly dues for the membership type applied for. Click here for a breakdown of cost for the different membership types.
• At the business meeting six (6) months later, with the applicant not present, the application will be voted upon by written ballot. This written ballot may be waived by voice vote of a majority of Regular Members present. The majority of the Regular Members present at that business meeting will determine the acceptance or rejection.
• Upon acceptance, the one-time initiation fee provided of $250.00 must be paid by the Applicant.
• Any individual not accepted for membership may not submit another application for membership in Prairie Scale Model Railroaders for a period of six (6) months.

Dues

• Membership initiation fee $250.00.
• Dues for Regular Members $35.00 per month. Charter Members dues will drop to $30.00 per month when there at least fifty (50) regular members in the organization.
• Dues for Associate Members $9.00 per month.
• Dues for Sponsored Junior Members $18.00 per month.
• Dues shall be waived for members of the armed forces and college students for those months that these members are living away from their home. The member must have at least one year of continuous membership in order for this waiver to apply.
